General Carpentry
I’m a fully insured carpenter and joiner, City & Guilds NVQ qualified, with over 20 years of hands-on industry experience in a wide range of carpentry and joinery projects, mainly in the sector of bespoke fitted furniture and custom carpentry. I only work with experienced or qualified suppliers, ensuring that projects run as smoothly as possible. I provide quotes and estimates and issue contracts based on the customer’s requirements, which makes it clear exactly when projects will be completed, what needs to be paid for when and offer additional terms and conditions in all my contracts, which allows anything you which to be included in the work to be discussed and agreed and included in all paperwork for the project. Because I’m a family man and understand the tasks of budgeting for things and juggling work and things in the home, the person you talk to about your project is me and I’m the person who is directly responsible for the work happening as you have planned it and taking it to completion.
Everything I undertake is only done with a contract of works, which includes a reference to all specifications, drawings and costs for the work. I deliver projects on time and within schedules provided to the best of my ability, working with your family and business commitments and the constraints of any suppliers providing goods to me. In circumstances where the unexpected happens, I keep my customers fully informed and schedules and payment terms are adjusted accordingly if required. If additional work is requested the work stops until an additional works contract is signed in reference to any additional charges, materials or time involved in that work, this ensures that you, the customer are in control of the whole project.
Payment is in stages – I never require full payment upfront on any project. You will pay a booking fee (usually 30% of the overall cost) to secure my time to carry out your work, which means I will not take on any work for the duration of the period booked for your project. Depending on the project, you may be required to pay in advance for materials that may need to be ordered for the project. In some cases, materials may be a special order and not refundable or are of a significant value that they need to be covered in advance. There are different payment options available, depending on the project. Smaller projects would normally have a booking fee and payment on completion. Larger jobs would be regular payments spread throughout the job- this will be agreed on beforehand, and everything is always included in the contract.
